The development of severe acne normally results in the formation of acne scar. It’s so annoying to deal with acne on the neck or shoulder acne especially.

Affecting mostly teenagers and women going through menopause after hormonal imbalances, the breakouts leave scars. The scars are the aftermath of the acne having popped and are difficult to clear out.

Distinguished with dark brown or red spots, acne is not harmful to the skin but affects its appearance. I understand that acne scars make most people uncomfortable since they leave skin blemishes on the face.

The scars take a while to clear out depending on how severe they are. Some take weeks, others months and some longer.

Most people prefer using home remedies rather than creams and cosmetic surgeries.

I always discourage against the use of creams which can be harmful, especially when you use those containing harsh chemicals.

This leaves most with the option of using simple home remedies that are effective and less harmful. I have tried out some of the commonly used natural home remedies.

They work wonders on acne clearing out any marks that may be present. They are not only safe, but cheap since you can get most of the ingredients in your kitchen.

How to get rid of acne scars home remedies

Getting rid of acne scars requires patience and dedication, especially if you are using home remedies.

Here are some simple home techniques I have compiled that you can use to get rid of acne scars.

Turmeric powder

Turmeric contains antibacterial properties that help in clearing out acne scars.

Mix some drops of lemon or lime with a teaspoon of turmeric and apply the mixture on the affected area. Let it work effectively for 30 minutes and then wash your face.

You can also mix some honey for much more effective results daily. Apart from making the mixture effective, the lemon prevents the turmeric from staining your hands.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is known to have the capabilities of clearing out acne scars. Although you should be very keen on your skin type and how sensitive it is to coconut oil.

It is a great moisturizer and improves the skin tone, giving it a glowing and shiny feel. Oily skin types should, however, use less coconut oil as an option.

Apply some coconut oil to the acne area, massaging it gently onto the skin.

Leave the oil overnight and wash it first thing the following morning. Alternatively, instead of using plain coconut oil, you can mix the oil with lavender and then apply the mixture to the affected area.

This process should be done once daily for around four weeks. What about omega 3?

Honey

Honey is used in skin care remedies due to the skin rejuvenation abilities that it has. It gives the skin a healthy look especially after ingestion or several applications of the honey mask.

Mix raw honey with lemon or lime juice and apply it on your scars. Leave it for an hour or two and then wash your face with cold water.

You can also use the same procedure but instead, apply plain raw honey.

Aloe-Vera

The aloe vera plant’s leaves produce a gel that contains anti-inflammatory properties that soothe the skin giving it a fresh feel.

With regular applications the gel improves your skin, making it smooth without any side effects.

These unique properties make it a common ingredient in creams, lotions, face wash, soaps as well as in the treatments of burns and numerous skin conditions.

Cut some fresh aloe vera leaves and scrape the gel out using a spoon. Gently apply the gel on the affected area to function as a moisturizer.

Massage the area for 15 minutes in circular motions; let it dry for an hour before washing your face with cold water.

You can also mix aloe vera with honey or lime and then apply for more effective results. Repeat this process once or twice daily until you see your desired results.

Lemon or lime juice

Both lemon and lime have a way of clearing stubborn scars. The vitamin C and lightens up the skin brightening up any dark scars that may have formed.

Cut some lemon slices and apply some freshly squeezed lemon juice directly onto the affected area.

Let it sit for a while or the whole night and then wash it in the morning. However, if you notice that leaving it overnight is bleaching your skin, leave it only for an hour and then wash your face.

You can also mix the lemon with honey and some few drops of essential oil. Repeat this daily, but avoid exposure to direct sunlight since it reacts with lemon.

Apple Cider Vinegar

The anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of apple cider vinegar enable skin rejuvenation and clear dark scars.

Used as a toner in most occasions, vinegar also stimulates blood circulation, which promotes healing and cell regeneration.

Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with the same proportion of water and apply it to the affected area. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then wash with cold water. Mix vinegar with honey for better results and repeat the application daily.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E helps in the healing of scars. Apart from using soybean oil, Vitamin E can be found in supplements.

Buy vitamin E supplements and remove the gel in the capsules which you then apply to the affected area. Let it sit for an hour or two.  You can also take the capsules orally with a glass of water.

Conclusion

It is possible to clear out any acne scars using home remedies. I have used turmeric and aloe vera to obtain a clear face and believe that discipline is important when using the above procedures.

Ensure a consistent follow up on the directions for use and you should start seeing results after a few weeks.

When used correctly, natural remedies will not have side effects such a skin irritation and redness of the skin.

Despite using natural remedies, maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. Exercise regularly to promote blood circulation in your skin cells to help heal acne faster.
