Most Aussie mums will know about Mater Mothers’ Hospitals, Australia’s largest maternity service. While I haven’t had the opportunity to experience their service, I have heard many good things from other mums. I was excited to find out they released a new maternity and baby care range and you’d be happy to know the range is pretty awesome!
The Mater Body Balm For Pregnancy is a moisturizing treatment to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. God knows how many balms and such I slapped on my growing belly trying to prevent stretch marks. I gave up eventually because all they did was make me itch.
Back then, I wasn’t as conscious about product ingredients and how that can really affect my skin. Now I know better. This Mater Body Balm, very importantly, is made from ingredients that are more than 95% naturally derived.
Pregnancy isn’t easy, that’s for sure. There’s so many things to think about. From maternity underwear to pads for postpartum.
Mater Baby Wash is specially formulated for newborn skin and that itself prompts you to expect a really mild and gentle formula. It surely doesn’t disappoint. A tear-free and soap-free formula that does not strip your baby’s skin of its natural oils and moisture, this baby wash also lathers and washes off easily, leaving soft, supple baby skin in its wake. Perfect.
I tried the Mater Baby Moisturiser on my bub (ok, toddler) after her bath and find it to be a good complement. Perfect for soothing and conditioning baby’s delicate skin, I find the moisturizing effect to last well too. I tried some on myself and I love how it is a very lightweight and non-greasy formula.
Mater has also released a nappy range. My little one was just being toilet trained when these nappies came in and was only wearing nappies to bed so we didn’t really have a full nappy while trying these Mater ones.
I can tell you though that these nappies are so soft and gave my bub a nice, snug fit (especially with the side leakage protection). Mater nappies are dermatologically tested and proven not to cause skin irritation. Available in 5 sizes, a special mention has to go out to the Newborn First Weeks size which is meant to give a better fit for newborns who weigh approximately less than 3.5kg and are a bit too small for traditional newborn nappies.
I definitely experienced this with my bub when she was a newborn and wish I had Mater nappies back then as an option!
Want to try out the Mater range for yourself? Mater has offered a Prize Pack worth $50 for a lucky reader! (Please note, the image below is just a guide on what the winner will receive)
I’ve tried the mater stuff for my blog too and will be doing a giveaway soon as well. I love the baby wash and moisturiser and its such a great cause to support. Unfortunately my bub is too big for the nappies already (shes a chubba).
Thanks for dropping by Toni! I really liked how calming and moisturizing it was on my bub x
These products sounds gorgeous – and your photos are so cute! I have a friend with a newborn who would love these, so fingers crossed x
Thanks Amy! They are lovely products. Good luck x
Great products by a very special organisation, we used QV products on our babies til they were bigger, even now I don’t put anything on their skin they don’t need! It’s already perfect! Emily – visiting as part of #teamIBOT

Hi Mandy, I like the new picture of you on your website and Twitter. I haven’t tried this brand before. I usually use Jurlique on my bugs. I may give it a try once I finish my Jurlique goodies:)
Hi Grace! Haha you noticed 🙂 I haven’t really tried many Jurlique products. Wonder how they compare.
